SURROUNDINGS

Gundogan, formerly called Farilya, is one of the oldest settlements on the Bodrum Peninsula on the Aegean Sea. The name Gundogan could not have been chosen more appropriately: it stands for the rising of the sun.

Characteristic of the seaside resort are the striking greenery and the beach that extends over 750 meters. The beach, which consists of sand, fine gravel, pebbles and even grass, is given even more shine by a cozy harbor. Water holidaymakers and sunbathers can use the many jetties in the sea. The Gundogan coast has a blue flag rating. This means an international symbol for a well-preserved environment, clean sea and sand, well-groomed beaches and a high quality of service.

Along the bay is the so-called promenade of Gundogan. This lends itself to a lovely walk, which can be interrupted by a visit to one of the (Turkish) restaurants, shops and bars. You can also walk towards the center of Gundogan. Large shops are not located here, but for souvenirs you have come to the right place. For real shopping, a trip to Bodrum is recommended, which is half an hour's drive away with the famous Dolmus.

Gundogan is only 45 minutes from Milas International Airport (Bodrum). Directions from the airport to the villa will be provided to you before departure.

The climate is mild all year round in Gundogan. Despite the high temperatures in summer, it is very pleasant due to the relatively low humidity in combination with the cooling breeze that is always there.

Activities

There is much to do on the peninsula. Everything is at a maximum distance of 30 minutes. A selection of activities:

  • sailing (sailing yacht, catamaran, gulet).

  • kitesurfing (two good spots for both beginners and advanced).

  • windsurfing (is practiced a lot because of the good spots). Equipment can be rented.

  • jet skiing, wakeboarding, banana, etc. (can be done just 5 minutes walking distance).

  • golf (there are several golf clubs, both 9 and 18 holes, spread over the peninsula).

  • diving (Bodrum is known for its underwater fauna and the many Shipwrecks).

  • horseback riding (accompanied in the mountains where you will not meet anyone).

  • fitness (fitness areas to be used in the surrounding hotels).

  • several water/slide theme parks (located at 15-25 minutes drive).

  • fishing (possibly from a pier, but also with a boat).

  • walking (including walking routes through the surrounding olive and citrus groves).

  • cycling (both by road and a trip through the mountains).

  • shopping (Bodrum is THE shopping Mecca!). Covered and cool is also possible in Midtown.

  • visit a real Turkish bath house.

  • vibrant nightlife in Gumbet and Bodrum.

An extensive folder with all activities (location activities and contact telephone numbers) is ready in the villa. This map also contains the best (fish) restaurants, the best nightlife, unique places, etc.

In short, you don't need anything, but if you want to do something or see  , we have made the preparations for this.
